Jor has been looking for a job since January. It can be hard to be the wife of a person looking for a new job! :-) It never works to mettle in his affairs and yet sometimes I can feel so powerless.
This has thrown me back on the Lord. God is my provider, not my husband. So HE is to one to speak to when I get fearful or have my own idea about how Jor should look for a job. I've been doing a LOT of praying about the job and God keeps saying good is coming. I felt he said this is a year of abundance for us. Even though abundance has not manifested yet, I am pressing in, by faith.
Faith is SO important to God. And faith is ALL about the unseen. This is hard for us fleshly minded creatures. We want evidence NOW. We don't want to wait. But God is interested in our character. He wants to grow us into the people we are created to be. This comes through trials. During the trials we hope in the unseen. What is seen is temporary but what is unseen is eternal.
+Lord give us a real sense of your abiding presence as we go through trials.+

When you mentioned abundance, a question just popped into my head - what "abundance" are you hoping for?
I struggle with the notion that God teaches through suffering. Does he also provide abundance through suffering? Look at the abundance that God provided through Jesus' suffering on the cross.
I have a hard time differentiating between how I would do things and how God does things.
What a good word from the Lord! I like what nai said...God's definition is always different than ours. For more than a year I spent the majority of my life in bed, my family life was in shambles along with the house but that period of time was characterized by the greatest abundance I have ever experienced with the Lord. Go figure...sometimes we need to stand on our heads to get His perspective. Love you!
Nai, the abundance I am looking for is with Jor's job and my health. You know, I am already abundantly blessed.
I have a wonderful husband, 3 beautiful, healthy children, a wonderful home to live in, good food to eat everyday, and the list goes on.
Jor however, DOES need a permanent position and I would like to see a break through in my health. That is the abundance I am looking for.
I agree with Wings that we can find abundance in suffering as well. Certainly I have totally experienced spiritual abundance in this illness. And in someways I don't know if I could experience that type of spirtual abundance any other way. I think if we let him, Christ will be so near to the one who is suffering.
Thank you both for sharing.
